Southern Cross Lodge is located in Methven, the alpine town linked to Mt Hutt Ski Field, being just over an hour’s drive from Christchurch. We have 52 rooms here at the lodge which include a mixture of studio and family lodge rooms. 

We pride ourselves on being family friendly and cater for a wide range of group bookings including school, business, community or social groups.

Lodge facilities include a cosy lounge with fireplace (great for the colder months), pool tables, separate dining rooms, a common/function/training room, large indoor bbq and an outdoor pool & spa.

We are conveniently located a short walk from Methven town centre and across the road from New Zealand’s newest hot pools, Opuke Thermal Pool & Spa which is due to open in August 2021.

Our Team

The team at Southern Cross Lodge are as local as you can get and want to make sure your time spent at the lodge is a good time. The property was purchased by its current owners back in 2014 and since then has been continually updated to what it is today.

Our team shape the experience our guests have, from the moment you arrive to the moment you leave. We pride our self on comfort and value, both of which we know you will receive when staying at Southern Cross Lodge.

Dave Dynes – Owner of Southern Cross Lodge and residential handyman. To anyone that meets Dave whilst in Methven know he wears many hats but in his off time he can be found providing tips and advice on things to do in the region as well as solving the world’s problems.

Then when it is tools down for the day, you will quite often find

them both catching up on the adventures their guests had for the day. It’s all about feeling at home, when away from home.
